Two-hour parking is available on many of the historic district’s streets including Park Avenue, Church Street, South Main Street, Tenney Avenue and Beaver Court.

Additional parking is available in several free parking lots.

  • Lot #1 - Located across from Amherst Cinema on Church Street.  Enter lot from either Park Avenue or Tenney Avenue.
  • Lot #2 - Located next to Amherst Cinema.  Enter lot from either Church Street or Tenney Avenue.
  • Lot #3 - An easy walk to downtown, Lot 3 is located on Maple Avenue.  Enter by turning east onto Maple Avenue from Church Street or by turning west from West Street.

From the Ohio Turnpike/I80:
Exit at the #140/State Route 58 exit.
Turn north off of the exit ramp and continue straight 1.7 miles.
Turn left onto Park Avenue.
Go straight 1 mile to reach the heart of historic Downtown Amherst.


From State Route 2 (Vermilion, Avon):
Exit at the State Route 58 exit.
Turn south off of the exit ramp.
Turn right onto Cleveland Avenue.
Go straight 3/4 mile.  Turn left onto Church Street to reach the heart of historic Downtown Amherst.


From the South (Oberlin, Wellington):

Head north on State Route 58 and continue straight 1.7 miles.
Turn left onto Park Avenue.
Go straight 1 mile to reach the heart of historic Downtown Amherst. 


From the North (Lorain):
Head south on State Route 58/Leavitt Road.
Cross over Cooper Foster Park Road.
Continue straight 1 mile to Cleveland Avenue.  Turn right.
Go straight 3/4 mile.  Turn left onto Church Street to reach the heart of historic Downtown Amherst.
