Come Help Us Grow!
Come to Amherst and experience the quaint, small town feeling of a charming community with a distinctive business district, unique architecture, and a historic downtown that characterizes nineteenth century America.
Main Street Amherst has been designed to promote all aspects of the downtown business district by improving economic management, strengthening public participation, recruiting new businesses, rehabilitating buildings, and making downtown a fun place to visit.
Volunteers are always needed to help reach our goals! No amount of time or energy is too small. There are many different ways for you or business to be involved. Check out the Community Calendar for various committee meetings and events to learn more.

MIRACLE ON MAIN STREET
Main Street Amherst and Sliman's presents Miracle on Main Street holiday extravaganza on Friday, December 2, 2016 in downtown Amherst beginning at 6 p.m. The holiday lights and banners will be in place. The downtown businesses will be all aglow. The children will have sugar plums dancing in their heads and everyone is awaiting the arrival of Santa to officially kick-off the holiday seasons.
Start your evening early around 5 p.m. by enjoying dinner with your family at one of our fine downtown eateries. The Madrigals of Steele High will be on hand for your entertainment at Town Hall beginning at 5:45 p.m. The evening continues at 6 p.m. with the kick-off of the tenth Annual Christmas Parade beginning at the Amherst Public Library and following Park Avenue all the way up to Town Hall.
At the end of the parade, everyone will gather at the bandstand where the family-friendly event will open in prayer by Josh Smith of Family Fellowship followed by the Madrigals of Steele High leading us in a few well known and traditional Christmas Carols. Then Santa will be on hand to light the tree.
After the parade and tree lighting ceremony your family is encouraged to see what downtown has to offer by stopping into the shops that are open and waiting to welcome and greet you.
The M.S.A. building will be transformed into Mrs. Claus Kitchen where many different things will be taking place. As in previous years we will have our awesome traditional model trains on display for viewing by the Papay Family.
Come to Amherst and experience the magic of Christmas.
