Come Help Us Grow!

Come to Amherst and experience the quaint, small town feeling of a charming community with a distinctive business district, unique architecture, and a historic downtown that characterizes nineteenth century America.

Main Street Amherst has been designed to promote all aspects of the downtown and commercial business districts by improving economic management, strengthening public participation, recruiting new businesses, rehabilitating buildings, and making Amherst a fun place to visit.

Volunteers are always needed to help reach our goals! No amount of time or energy is too small. There are many different ways for you or business to be involved. Check out the Community Calendar for various committee meetings and events to learn more.

What's Happening

2020 Virtual Memorial Day Parade

Out of an abundance of caution, and in accordance with Governor Mike DeWine's orders, the annual Amherst Memorial Day Parade and Service could not go on as usual this year. Parade organizers have been working with American Legion Post 118, VFW Post 1662, the City of Amherst, and the Lorain County Public Helath Department. Over the past several weeks, they have come together in small groups, observing social distancing, to construct a virtual parade and service to honor our servicemen and servicewomen who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. This memorial tribute may be watch at the following LINK. Thank you for helping us continue to honor our fallen community members in spite of the unusual circumstances presented by COVID-19.

The Main Street Amherst Board has decided to not cancel Basket Bingo or the Wine & Chocolate Walk for 2020, but rather reschedule them. The Basket Bingo will be held on Sunday, September 27, 2020 and the Wine & Chocolate Walk will be held on Sunday, October 18, 2020.

The tickets for both of these events do say "No Refund", but Main Street Amherst understands that with the Covid-19 and the changes you may not be able to attend the event on the new date. Here are a few options:

1. Donate your ticket to M.S.A. to assist locally owned small businesses; or

2. Become a member of M.S.A. through 2021 which entitles you to a discount card to many of our locally owned businesses (this is a $10 discount as it is $20 per year to be a member); or

3. Get a refund - will be given in a check format (we ask that you stay in your car, call (440) 984-6709 when you arrive and you will be given instructions); or

4. Keep your ticket as it will be good for the rescheduled date.

You may take care of any of the above options the week of Monday, June 15-Friday, June 19 from 9am to 1pm or Wednesday, June 17 from 5pm to 6pm. In order to process any of the options, you do need to have your ticket. In the event the events do get canceled, we will post what options (which will be similar to the above options) you have at that time.

If a business would like to participate in either one of these events, please email

Tickets are still available at If you would like to purchase tickets in person please call (440) 984-6709 and leave a message or send an email to
