Our Place in Space
Our Place in Space

Join us on Wednesday, February 1 at 6pm and learn about the solar system with special guest and NASA Solar System Ambassador, Bill Reed of the Lake Erie Nature & Science Center. Explore the vastness of space and see just how big our universe really is. We’ll take a look at the Sun, the planets our Solar System, our galaxy, and what lies beyond in an attempt to gain some cosmic perspective. This program is open to all ages.
A portion of this program will take place on the second floor outdoor terrace. In the event of inclement weather or cloudy skies, this program will be rescheduled.

Wire Wrapped Gemstone Necklaces
Wire Wrapped Gemstone Necklaces

Join the Amherst Public Library at 6:30pm on Monday, February 6 and express your creativity with a wire wrapped pendant necklace! Special guest Rebecca Sapienza from Kip & Co. Handmade Jewelry will guide attendees through hand-work techniques to create their own unique pieces of jewelry. Even using the same techniques, no two necklaces will be exactly the same!
All supplies will be provided. Attendees will be able to choose their center-drilled stone from a selection including amethyst, rose quartz, and peach moonstone gems. Wrapping wire to create the pendant and a cord necklace with magnetic clasp will also be provided.
This program is intended for ages 12+. Minors should be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Please note: If you participated in the August 25, 2022 class with Rebecca Sapienza, you may register for this class, but you will be added to a waitlist. In the event that the class does not fill up, the waitlist will be opened up in the order of registration. Introducing a program designed for children who may not be successful in a typical storytime program! Join the Amherst Public Library for a monthly Saturday Adapted Storytime at 10:15am. Children with varying learning styles and abilities are invited to come together in a supported environment to participate in stories, songs, and activities where respect for differences is practiced and encouraged. The program will last 15-20 minutes, followed by social time. Content is designed for ages 3-7, but all ages are welcome! Parents and siblings are also welcome and encouraged to attend!
