Miracle on Main Street

The details

Main Street Amherst and Sliman’s presents Miracle on Main Street holiday extravaganza on Friday, December 6, 2024 in downtown Amherst beginning at 6 p.m.  The holiday lights and banners will be in place. The downtown businesses will be all aglow. The children have sugar plums dancing in their heads and everyone is awaiting the arrival of Santa to officially kick-off the holiday season.

Start your evening early around 5 p.m. by enjoying dinner with your family at one of our fine eateries. The Madrigals of Steele High will be on hand for your entertainment at Town Hall beginning at 5:45 p.m. The evening continues at 6 p.m. with the kick-off of the Christmas parade beginning at Marion L. Steele up to Park Avenue all the way up to Town Hall.

The festivities will really begin with members of the Amherst Marching Comets starting off our parade followed by other local groups and clubs, such as Girl Scout Troops, Boy Scout Troops, Youth Groups, Marion L. Steele Sport Teams, Cheerleaders and even an appearance by Santa Claus himself.

At the end of the parade, everyone will gather at the band stand where the event , a family fun holiday event will open in prayer by a local minister of Amherst. The Madrigals of Steele High will be leading the community in a few well known and traditional Christmas Carols and Santa will be on hand to light the tree.

After the parade and tree lighting ceremony your family is encouraged to see what downtown has to offer by stopping into the shops that are open. Grow Point Church will be offering games after the tree lighting on the lawn of Town Hall along with a live nativity. CCUCC will be offering free hot chocolate and a bake sale and MSA will be giving away free kettle corn to children made by Kelli’s Kettle Korn. Stop inside Town Hall to see Santa and get your child’s photo taken.

The Main Street building will be transformed into a magical place where there will be crafts for children, a couple vendors and Mrs. Claus awaits your visit. Come to Amherst and experience the magic of Christmas.

If your PK-3 grader (Amherst Student) would like to be a part of the parade and ride on a school bus please fill out the color participation form below & return their coloring sheet to M.S.A. by Friday, November 8th, 2024.
