The Amherst Lions Club has been active in a variety of community projects and providing assistance to those less fortunate since 1951. Amherst Lions are also involved in various community projects, especially those concerning children and youth. A fun project we do every year is to host the Amherst Community Easter Egg Hunt. Assisted by the Amherst Leos, some 10,000 candy-filled plastic eggs are scattered across the grounds of Maude Neiding Park to the delight of hundreds of eager young egg hunters.
Amherst Manor Retirement Community, founded by Grace Sprenger in 1959, is located on nine wooded acres in the village of Amherst. For more than forty years, we have dedicated our efforts to enhancing the quality of life of the residents we serve by listening and understanding their needs, responding to our families and community, and continuously refining and improving our standards and services. With the completion of a state of the art assisted living facility in 1991, Amherst Manor Retirement Community is proud to offer a full continuum of housing and health care services on one campus. The Amherst Public Library is an independent library that has been proudly serving the greater Amherst community since 1906. Located at the corner of Spring Street and Park Avenue, we have something for every age and interest! We have a variety of materials available to patrons including books, audiobooks, movies, magazines, CDs, DVDs, video games, wi-fi hotspots, and so much more!
We offer many free and low-cost services to the community such as public computers with the full Microsoft Suite, on-site wireless internet, device tech help, notary, printing, scanning, and photocopying. The community is welcome to attend a variety of free programs and events for all ages; art and craft classes, early literacy and reading enrichment programs, storytimes, local history talks, health and wellness presentations, summer reading events, local and regional author signings, Main Street Amherst events, book discussion groups, and more!
An extensive expansion and renovation project concluding in summer 2022 will include a drive-up window and book drop on Spring Street, a 125 seat capacity Community Room, a reading terrace, an all-new children's area, first floor Reference services, bottle filling stations, and many new surprises!

Shopping at a Habitat ReStore is not like any other shopping experience. Part discount home improvement store, part thrift store and part home store, Greater Cleveland Habitat for Humanity's ReStore has something for everyone. Each store carries a wide selection of items including appliances, tools, lighting, building supplies, cabinets, home décor, furniture and so much more! Please note, all sales are final.
The ReStore receives new, used, discontinued or surplus building materials, appliances and home furnishing from companies, contractors, retailers and individuals. All donated items must be in good, clean, working, and sell-able condition.
Sales generated from the ReStore help further Habitat's mission to help Greater Cleveland families and individuals purchase safe and affordable homes in Lorain & Cuyahoga County.
